Cancellation Tab¶
The Cancellation tab provides access to the settings of the Instrument’s cancellation tone. It is available on all SHFPPC Instruments.
Features¶
- Cancellation tone configuration
Description¶
The Cancellation tab gives access to the configuration of the cancellation tone in each channel. The cancellation tone can be added to the readout signal to cancel out pump tone leakage, see SHFPPC Functional Diagram and Pump Tone Cancellation Tutorial.
Cancellation Tone Configuration¶
A cancellation tone is used to destructively eliminate pump tone leakage in the readout signal on the Signal Input port of the SHFPPC. It can be generated internally from the internal pump tone signal, or externally by sending a signal to the Pump Input port. By adjusting the phase and power (attenuation) of the cancellation tone, the pump tone signal on the Signal Output channel can be minimized.
Functional Elements¶
All settings are summarized in the Table below, and they are also accessible through the Device Node Tree.
Control/Tool | Option/Range | Description |
---|---|---|
On | Enable/Disable | Enables/Disables the cancellation tone. |
Source | Internal/External | Sets the source for the cancellation tone. "Internal": Self-generated pump tone via internal loop-back. "External": External pump tone via the Pump Input connector. |
Frequency (Hz) | 5 - 10 GHz | Sets the frequency of the externally sourced cancellation tone when the cancellation tone source "External" is selected. This value is locked to the self-generated pump tone frequency when the cancellation tone source "Internal" is selected. |
Phase shift (deg) | 0 to at least 360 | Sets the phase shift applied to the cancellation tone. |
Attenuation (dB) | 0 - 50 dB | Sets the attenuation applied to the cancellation tone. |
